Questions before you start
I’ve never danced before. Can I still join?
Yes. Most of our students start with zero dance experience. Our beginner courses are built for complete newcomers, and you learn the fundamentals step by step in a relaxed group where mistakes are part of the fun.
Do I need a partner?
No. Many of our students come on their own. We rotate partners in class, so everyone gets plenty of practice and you get to know the whole group. Coming solo is one of the best ways to become part of the community.
When and where are the classes?
In Budapest, beginner courses run on Thursdays at 18:15 (Rákóczi út 20.) and on Sundays at 18:30 (Kazimir Bisztró, Kazinczy utca 34.). In Debrecen, on Wednesdays at 18:15. The full timetable is in the schedule above.
What language are the classes taught in?
Our Budapest classes are taught in English, so expats and locals learn side by side. If you get stuck, our teachers can also help in Hungarian. Our Debrecen classes are bilingual, in Hungarian and English.
How much do the classes cost?
A single class is 5,000 HUF. A 4-class pass is 16,000 HUF (valid for 5 weeks), a 12-class pass is 38,000 HUF (valid for 14 weeks). A 60-minute private lesson is 17,000 HUF. There’s no contract: you buy a pass and dance.
When can I join a beginner course?
The best time is the start of a new beginner course. You can still join in the first weeks: the second class is still the beginning, and many people start there. Sign up and we’ll tell you the next start date.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in, and shoes with a smooth sole so you can pivot easily. Clean sneakers are fine for your first classes; avoid thick rubber soles that grip the floor.
What age group are the classes for?
Our community is mostly in their twenties and thirties, but everyone is welcome, whatever their age. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to learn.
What is a milonga?
A milonga is a social tango evening: dancers come together to dance socially to classic and modern tango music. It’s not a class or a performance. We host Milonga La Mirada every Saturday in Budapest, open to all levels.
Are private lessons available?
Yes, in Budapest and in Debrecen. Private lessons are tailored to your goals: progressing faster as a beginner, preparing for your first milonga, working on musicality, or a wedding dance.
