There was the first Hello Tango class, the first birthday, the first joint HV milonga, the first Belgrade trip, the first Christmas praktilonga. And now, there’s the first blog post because we got the itch to write, so write we will!

If you don’t know us yet, then: Hi, we’re glad you found us! We offer Argentine tango classes and courses, primarily for young people, and we absolutely love what we do. Three years ago, when we launched our first course with determination—and a healthy amount of nerves—we never thought we’d come this far…

It’s hard to measure success, especially when you’re teaching tango. Sure, you can count students, tally up the moves taught, or even compete, but to us, tango isn’t about that. What we do see, though, is how much people love dancing with Hello Tango students. And it’s not just here at home; it’s happening all over Europe. That’s a pretty great feeling, no denying it. Tango is an international language; it’s spoken the same way everywhere. Those who can express themselves and be understood feel at home anywhere.

But now, we’re writing. About what?

We don’t want to claim absolute wisdom because even if we wanted to, we couldn’t. Tango is a living, breathing dance precisely because it isn’t confined by rules. It’s constantly evolving, and we, the dancers, are shaping it. There’s no “yellow brick road” leading to the absolute truth of tango. However, there’s tradition worth knowing, various approaches worth experimenting with, and there’s you, who adds your personality and emotions to all of it.

So, why are we diving into blogging? Mostly, to give you even more. Even though our classes are 90 minutes long, there’s often so much more we want to share… Because there’s a lot we think about and would love to share with you. There are events we’re happy to recommend. There are personalities we’d like to introduce. And a whole bunch of other topics we’d throw into the mix.

And then you can read it all—or maybe just half, because as everyone knows, we love to talk (too much) 🙂 If you feel like it, let us know what you think: here, in class, on Facebook, Instagram, at practice, at milongas. Or if we bump into each other on the street.

Read on. And of course, keep dancing tango 😉
